“EXPANDING THE WOMEN-LED CHEMICAL PESTICIDE-FREE INTEGRATED BACKYARD FARMING IN BULACAN” FEBRUARY 19, 2025

February 19, 2025 – The BASC project management team of the DOST-PCAARRD-funded project, “Expanding the Women-Led Chemical Pesticide-Free Integrated Backyard Farming in Bulacan,” organized the second series of project launching, Lakbay Aral and hands-on training on free range chicken production and management at BASC-Windmill Piggery Farm in Brgy. Malipampang, San Ildefonso, Bulacan. Project beneficiaries who are members and officers of the Lakas ng Kababaihan ng Calantipay and personnel from the City Agriculture Office (CAO) of Baliwag City, Bulacan participated in the event.

The one-day activity started with a short opening program whereby Dr. Imee D. Esguerra, the project leader, discussed the objectives and schedule of activities for the whole day. A farm tour or “Lakbay-Aral” was also conducted at the two established chemical pesticide-free integrated backyard farms in Brgy. Malipampang and Telapatio, San Ildefonso, Bulacan.

In the afternoon, a ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between BASC and Lakas ng Kababaihan ng Calantipay, represented by their association president, Mrs. Aurelia Maranan, was held to bind the partnership between the two parties. Dr. Esguerra, Dr. Imelda S.A. Navarro, assistant project leader, and Mr. Herson Alvarez, Agricultural Technician of CAO Baliwag City witnessed this momentous event.

Afterwards, Dr. Imelda S.A. Navarro delivered a lecture on Free-Range Chicken Production and Management, followed by a hands-on FRC production management demonstration facilitated by Mr. Danilo M. Palma, a farm worker at BASC-Windmill Piggery Farm. Participants then shared their insights, fostering camaraderie and empowerment.

The event concluded with a raffle of free-range chicks and the awarding of certificates to the speakers and attendees.
