A knowledge-sharing seminar titled “When the Wild Goes Viral: Exploring Wildlife-Borne Diseases” was held on May 2, 2025, at the BASC Farmer’s Training Center. The activity focused on increasing awareness and understanding of zoonotic diseases originating from wildlife, particularly the risks these diseases pose to human and animal health amid changing environmental and ecological conditions.
The seminar featured Dr. Joseph S. Masangkay, Professor Emeritus of CVM-UPLB and NAST Academician, as the distinguished speaker. The discussion provided participants with insights into wildlife-borne zoonoses and the importance of preparedness, research, and responsible practices in addressing emerging disease threats.
The activity emphasized the connection between human health, animal health, and environmental sustainability, encouraging veterinarians, researchers, and field practitioners to strengthen their knowledge and collaborative efforts in preventing and managing zoonotic diseases.
