On October 24, 2025, the Bulacan Agricultural State College (BASC) conducted a comprehensive disaster preparedness drill and seminar at its campus in San Ildefonso, Bulacan, focusing on earthquake and fire emergency response to strengthen the safety and preparedness of the entire college community. Led by Dr. Robert A. Capalad, Director of the General Services, Security and Transportation Office (GSSTO), with the support of Mr. Edwin S. Santos, President of the Federation of Supreme Student Council (FSSC), the activity organized campus facilities into three clusters to ensure systematic evacuation and efficient emergency response. Mr. Kent Melville DC. Espiritu and Mr. King Charlie Flores from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) discussed earthquake safety procedures, including the proper execution of “Drop, Cover, and Hold,” while SFO1 Dominador I. Sulit of the San Ildefonso Bureau of Fire Station provided essential fire prevention and response guidance, including fire hazard identification, fire extinguisher use, and evacuation procedures. Dr. Cecilia S. Santiago, Vice President for Academic Affairs, emphasized that disaster preparedness is a shared institutional responsibility and encouraged participants to take the training seriously to protect lives and maintain campus safety. Through this initiative, BASC strengthened its disaster risk reduction efforts, promoted safety awareness and emergency preparedness, and reinforced collaboration with local emergency response agencies in building a safer and more resilient campus community.
