SUPPORTING THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

BEYOND THE HORIZON 20 YEARS OF GEODETIC BREAKTHROUGHS

The Association of Geodetic Engineering Students (AGES) successfully celebrated its 20th anniversary through the event “Beyond the Horizon: 20 Years of Geodetic Breakthroughs,” held on March 14, 2025, at the Farmer’s Training Center. The milestone celebration brought together students, professionals, faculty members, and industry practitioners to commemorate two decades of achievements and advancements in the field of geodetic engineering.

The event served as a platform for learning, professional development, and collaboration, featuring informative seminars led by experts in the field. Participants gained valuable insights into contemporary geospatial technologies and applications through discussions on topics such as leveraging Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for strategic decision-making and managing missing or incomplete survey returns in geodetic engineering projects. These sessions enhanced participants’ understanding of emerging technologies and practical approaches that contribute to more effective geodetic and surveying practices.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the GELE Passers Talk, where newly licensed geodetic engineers shared their personal experiences, challenges, and successes in preparing for and passing the Geodetic Engineering Licensure Examination. Their stories provided inspiration and motivation to aspiring geodetic engineers while offering practical advice on professional growth and career development.

To foster engagement and camaraderie among participants, the event also featured interactive energizer games and recreational activities that created a lively and enjoyable atmosphere. The combination of educational sessions, professional sharing, and interactive activities made the celebration both meaningful and memorable for attendees.

Overall, the event successfully strengthened connections within the geodetic engineering community while promoting knowledge sharing, professional excellence, and continuous learning. It highlighted the significant contributions of geodetic engineering to national development and inspired future professionals to continue advancing the discipline through innovation, collaboration, and service.
