On March 24, 2025, the BASC Crop Science Organization, in collaboration with the Animal Science Society and with the support of the Municipality of Santa Maria, successfully conducted the seminar entitled “Community Health and Sustainability, Rabies Awareness, Urban Gardening, and Organic Fertilizer” at the Fortunato F. Halili National Agricultural School Gymnasium.
The seminar aimed to empower participants through education on community health, environmental sustainability, responsible animal care, and sustainable agricultural practices. Resource speakers discussed the importance of rabies prevention and awareness, the benefits of urban gardening in enhancing household food security, and the use of organic fertilizers to promote environmentally friendly and sustainable farming practices. The activity provided participants with practical knowledge and skills that they can apply in their homes and communities to support healthier lifestyles and a greener environment.
Through this collaborative initiative, the organizers strengthened community awareness of public health, sustainable agriculture, and environmental stewardship while encouraging active participation in building resilient and sustainable communities.
