TRAINING ON PROPER DECAPITATION OF SUSPECTED RABID ANIMALS,

AND PACKING, STORAGE, AND TRANSPORTATION OF SAMPLES

BASC Department of Veterinary Medicine conducted a hands-on training titled “Training on Proper Decapitation of Suspected Rabid Animals, and Packing, Storage, and Transportation of Samples” at Bulacan Agricultural State College – College of Agriculture, Pinaod, San Ildefonso, Bulacan on July 31, 2024.


This training activity aims to inform veterinarians, livestock inspectors and agriculture extension workers of Bulacan on the standardized dog decapitation procedure including proper packaging, storage and transport of rabies samples. Resource speakers Dr. Milagros R. Mananggit, ILD Chief, DA-RFO3 Rabies Coordinator, Dr. Patricia Mae T. Lacanilao, Veterinarian II, ILD – DA-RFO3 and Ms. Pinky Evans Evangelista, Provincial Rabies Coordinator, Department of Health Regional Field Office, share their knowledge through a lecture-discussion on human and animal rabies program updates, standard operating procedure in pre and post-exposure prophylaxis, laboratory training on identifying and decapitation of suspected rabid animal, and packing, storage and shipment of samples to diagnostic laboratory.
